How to Get Rid of Melasma

Melasma is brown or dark skin color on the face. Melasma is very common in women, especially in pregnant women. It is acquired in body parts that are most commonly exposed to the sun.

Treatment

You should get the best therapy for melasma on face. Apply lightening cream first and then sunscreen. Lightening creams contain hydroquinone, which inhibits the formation of new pigments. Lightening creams take 3 to 6 months to achieve meaningful pigmentation lightening.

It can fade freckles; improve acne and smooth wrinkles on the face. Sun protection cream should also be applied. Apply sunscreen (such as zinc oxide or titanium dioxide) to sensitive areas. Use a sunscreen that protects against UV-A and UV B radiation.

Avoid applying lightening creams to normal skin as this will also lighten them. Sun protection is very important to minimize sun exposure on your face. Wear a brimmed hat to protect your face.

Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a very high sun protection factor and apply it all over the face. Avoid skin rubbing on the face. Do not use strong soaps or abrasives – use only mild soaps or gel. Laser scrubs are sometimes helpful. It is very important to monitor sun avoidance carefully and you may need to take hydroquinone as well.
